In a remarkable display of bravery and quick thinking, a 2-year-old boy was saved from drowning in a Monticello pool on Sunday, thanks to the heroic actions of bystanders and Catskills Hatzolah. Following his release from the hospital on Monday, the Orthodox Jewish NYPD Auxiliary Officer who played a pivotal role in the rescue has been honored for his courage. As first reported by Catskills Scoop, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lodge Estates. The child was discovered submerged in the pool, prompting cries for help from his father. Among those present was Orthodox Jewish NYPD Auxiliary Officer Delevkovitz, who rushed to assist. Officer Delevkovitz recounted hearing the father’s desperate shouts and quickly locating the lifeless child, who had turned blue due to a lack of oxygen. He promptly began performing CPR, and says he detected signs of life in the child about two minutes later. Shortly after Officer Delevkovitz’s initial intervention, Catskills Hatzolah paramedics arrived at the scene. They took over the emergency response and swiftly transported the child to the hospital, where medical professionals continued the life-saving efforts.
