Acting on intelligence provided by the Shin Bet, the Israeli Air Force launched an early morning strike on Tuesday targeting the Dahieh neighborhood in Beirut, a major center of Hezbollah activity.
The IDF and Shin Bet released a joint statement explaining that the operation was aimed at a Hezbollah operative who had recently been working with Hamas terrorists, helping them orchestrate a serious and imminent assault on Israeli civilians.
“Due to the immediate threat the terrorist posed, the IDF and ISA acted to eliminate him and removed the threat,” the statement said.
“The IDF and ISA will continue to operate to prevent any threat posed to the civilians of the State of Israel,” it added.
Lebanese media sources reported that at least three individuals were killed in the airstrike.
Just days earlier, Israeli aircraft eliminated Ahmad Adnan Bajjiga, a Hezbollah Radwan Force commander, in the town of Derdghaiya, located in southern Lebanon.
The IDF stated that Bajjiga had played a significant role during the ongoing conflict by overseeing and executing multiple attacks targeting both Israeli soldiers and civilians.
They further noted that Bajjiga had continued to orchestrate operations against Israel’s civilian population in recent months, presenting a direct danger to national security.
On Friday, Israel intensified its military campaign in Dahieh, with the IDF confirming that one of the strikes hit a Hezbollah installation used to store unmanned aerial vehicles operated by Unit 127 of its aerial division.
“The Hezbollah terrorist organization systematically embeds its terrorist infrastructure amidst the Lebanese civilian population, a clear example of Hezbollah’s cynical exploitation of Lebanese civilians as human shields,” it said.
Later that same day, additional Israeli airstrikes hit multiple Hezbollah targets across southern Lebanon, including command centers, weapons sites, missile launchers, and terrorist operatives. The strikes came in response to a missile fired at the city of Kiryat Shmona.
