Channel 14 and Walla journalist Yaki Adamker allegedly blackmailed prominent members of a well-established chareidi group in exchange for a bribe of NIS 12,000, TheMarker and Channel 12 report.
Adamker, who covers parliamentary and chareidi affairs for Walla and also appears on Channel 14’s conservative program The Patriots, was reportedly caught extorting the money after telling activists from the chareidi community that he had damaging information that could harm their reputation if it were made public.
A video shared by TheMarker shows Adamker meeting with a courier in the midst of the financial exchange. The courier leans into Adamker’s vehicle to confirm the deal and hands over the cash. “We’ve settled the matter, right? The deal is off,” the courier says to Adamker. Adamker acknowledges this, takes the money, and finishes a separate phone call. At that moment, he spots a hidden camera on the courier’s shirt button.
Upon noticing the camera, Adamker becomes visibly upset and attempts to return the cash. “Why did you film this?” he asks the courier, reaching for the camera. “I didn’t film you,” the courier responds.
“Take this. I have nothing to discuss with you,” Adamker states in the video. “I don’t trust dishonest people… I trust people, and they try to set me up.”
The courier tries to reassure him, saying, “I’m not trying to trap you or anything. I’m just telling you—if you don’t say a word, no one will know about this.”
TheMarker reported that this was not the first time Adamker had demanded payment to suppress a story.
“Adamker approached the religious community with claims he threatened to publish,” an anonymous source told TheMarker. “He demanded money to prevent a story that was set to appear on Walla. They mentioned that he had extorted them in the past, and on those occasions, they paid similar amounts to have articles buried.”
This time, the community chose to put an end to the extortion and documented the interaction.
According to the source, after the video was recorded, Adamker ceased writing about the chareidi community. “A sort of ‘balance of terror’ was created—he hasn’t written about them since, and they buried the footage,” the source explained. The only remaining evidence of the alleged extortion is the video, as those targeted by Adamker have denied any knowledge of the incident or its recording.
Adamker has rejected the Israeli media reports and claimed that the footage was “manipulated and edited.” In response to the report, Adamker posted a message on X stating: “Haaretz, TheMarker, and the radical left will not silence me. The headline reveals their agenda, even though they know the footage is edited and manipulated, filmed as part of a dispute and as part of an investigation I conducted several years ago…
“Four years ago, an attempt was already made to blackmail me with this footage, and I refused—just as I will not surrender now to those trying to silence me. Sorry to disappoint them, but I will continue to speak my mind and stand by what I believe in,” Adamker concluded.
