Six individuals who had been held captive and later released met with U.S. President Donald Trump during a visit to Washington on Wednesday, according to sources with knowledge of the meeting.
The visit was coordinated by The Hostages Families Forum and Hostage Aid, bringing together Doron Steinbrecher, Eli Sharabi, Naama Levy, Iair Horn, Omer Shem Tov, and Keith and Aviva Siegel. These individuals were freed as part of the initial stage of the latest agreement regarding Gaza.
During their discussion with the former president, they expressed gratitude to his administration for its unwavering efforts to secure the release of all captives. They shared personal accounts of their time in captivity and stressed the urgent need to ensure that those still being held are brought home as soon as possible.
Before their meeting with Trump, the group visited the Washington, D.C., branch of the Hostages Families Forum on Tuesday, where they were briefed on the advocacy work the organization has been doing in the U.S. capital since the attacks of October 7.
While there, they viewed a display of posters featuring images of all the hostages. Each released individual took a moment to leave a handwritten message on their own poster.
“How good it is to simply be. Thank you for your prayers and hard work,” wrote Omer Shem Tov. Next to the poster of Ori Danino—whose remains were discovered in Gaza in September—he added, “My guardian angel. Thank you!”
“What joy to be here. Thank you, everyone, for all the efforts!” penned Naama Levy.
