A viral video has surfaced showing a Jewish American Airlines passenger confronting a flight attendant, accusing her of being “antisemitic” for wearing a watermelon pin, which has come to represent support for Palestinians.
The footage, filmed on a Miami-bound flight and shared widely on social media, captures the man engaging in a passionate argument with the flight attendant, criticizing her for wearing the pin and for not allowing him to disembark from the plane.
“You support terrorism, you’re antisemitic,” the passenger shouts. “Why are you preventing me from leaving the plane, is it because I’m Jewish? You’re antisemitic.”
The flight attendant and a colleague inform the passenger that filming them is prohibited by US aviation regulations. They also accuse him of making physical contact with them during the exchange.
The passenger claims he was told that he could not leave the plane until he erased the video and had to wait for police to remove him. However, he insists that he was the one who called the authorities for assistance.
“Once officers came they told them I didn’t break any laws and they are the ones breaking the law by holding me on the plane for stupidity and they still refused to let me go so the officers got really upset and took me off the plane,” the passenger explained.
“It was very upsetting to be treated like a criminal,” he added.
WATCH:
American Airlines stated that it was looking into the incident, which occurred last week. However, the company did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
American Airlines has a policy that prohibits its employees from wearing unauthorized pins that are not part of the official uniform. According to the airline’s guidelines, staff are only allowed to wear company-approved pins celebrating anniversaries, awards, or union pins from recognized organizations.
