Argentinian President Javier Milei publicly acknowledged the significant role US President Donald Trump played in the ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement that led to the release of Argentinian-Israeli citizen Yair Horn, according to a government statement cited by The Associated Press. Milei reiterated Argentina’s demand for Hamas to release all remaining hostages, including Yair’s brother, Eitan Horn.
He also emphasized his country’s desire for a quick end to the conflict, with the complete defeat of the terrorist group responsible for the deadliest assault on the Jewish community since the Holocaust. Milei, a staunch supporter of Israel, has expressed his intention to move Argentina’s embassy in Israel to Yerushalayim.
During his election campaign, Milei pledged that his first overseas visit as president would be to Israel—a promise he fulfilled. In April, he voiced support for Israel in the wake of Iran’s rocket and drone attacks on the country. In September, Milei condemned the United Nations for its anti-Israel stance during his speech at the UN General Assembly.
