During these busy days of erev Pesach, a rare and deeply moving event took place in the Torah world. For the first time ever, a splendid and kosher l’mehadrin matzah bakery was set up right inside the holy study room of Maran the Mashgiach, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rav Don Segal shlit”a, in Yerushalayim. This was done for the sake of baking matzos for the generous supporters of Yeshivas “Ateres Shlomo,” under the leadership of the Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon Rav Shalom Ber Sorotzkin shlit”a.
This holy room, where Maran the Mashgiach toils in his learning and imparts Torah and mussar to his talmidim, was transformed in an instant into a fully equipped bakery, upholding the highest standards of chumros and hiddurim. A blazing oven was placed at the entrance, tables were spread out, and sparkling baking utensils were prepared in advance with meticulous care. Maran the Mashgiach shlit”a, in his lofty presence, stood at the center of the event, while beside him sat the Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon Rav Shalom Ber Sorotzkin shlit”a, davening an emotional tefillah for the success of the yeshiva, its talmidim, and supporters—a tefillah that brought everyone present to tears.
The peak of the occasion came when a select group of young talmidim from the Talmud Torah of “Ateres Shlomo” stood up in awe and simcha, singing in pure, clear voices the niggun of Maran the Mashgiach—”Tatele.” The sweet sounds blended in the air, and the entire crowd—comprising of talmidei chachamim and yeshiva bochurim packed tightly inside, was moved to the depths of their souls. The tears that flowed from the eyes of those present bore silent witness to the power of the moment—a fusion of tefillah and song rising together from one kadosh heart.
Afterward, Maran the Mashgiach himself took part in the baking. With holy hands trembling from yiras Shamayim, he poured the water onto the flour together with the Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon Rav Shalom Ber Sorotzkin shlit”a. “L’sheim Matzas Mitzvah,” the Mashgiach declared in his deep voice. The bakery workers sprang into action with wondrous speed—kneading the dough, shaping the matzos, and placing them into the oven—all under the watchful eye of the Mashgiach, who inspected every step with boundless precision. When the moment came to place the matzos into the oven, Maran the Mashgiach took charge, and with his own holy hands, he placed the matzos inside, as all eyes gazed at him in awe!The post Ateres Shlomo Matzo Baking in the Private Study of the Mashgiach, Rav Don Segal Shlit’a first appeared on Matzav.com.
