This morning, a Jewish man from Gush Dan was apprehended by security forces, suspected of being involved in aiding one of the terrorists who placed explosives on buses in Bat Yam and Cholon on Thursday night.
The suspect is expected to be brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court later today for a hearing, where the police will request an extension of his detention.
Around 20:15 the previous evening, three bombs went off in buses parked in two locations – the Begin lot and the Wolfson lot in Bat Yam. Additionally, another bomb was found on a bus at the Wolfson lot but was safely neutralized by the police who responded to the scene.
Each of the four bombs contained five kilograms of explosives and was equipped with a timer, which, according to authorities, had been mistakenly set for 9:00 p.m. rather than 9:00 a.m.
In response, security forces have increased their alert level, and three battalions of the IDF have been deployed to support and bolster forces operating in Judea and Samaria. Meanwhile, a thorough investigation by the IDF, the ISA, and the police is ongoing.
