On Motzoei Shabbos, Israeli security forces detained two armed terrorists in Shechem who were preparing to carry out a terror attack imminently.
The operation, which was a coordinated effort by the ISA, Israel Police, Yamam, and IDF, led to the arrest of the two men. They were identified as Ahmad Zakarna, 21, and Tariq Abu Zayid, 25, both from Qabatiya and members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group.
The suspects were apprehended while in their vehicle, and upon searching the car, security forces discovered two M-16 assault rifles, fully loaded and ready for use, along with tactical vests, face masks, and substantial quantities of ammunition. During initial questioning, the ISA learned that the men had come from Jenin and were on their way to carry out a shooting attack.
The investigation by the ISA is still ongoing.
“The security forces will continue to work to eliminate terror and defend the residents of the State of Israel,” said the forces.
