Border official Tom Homan had a direct response for the Haitian migrant who boldly shouted, “[Curse] Trump, Biden forever!” and declared that he was “not going back to Haiti” during his arrest in an immigration raid.
“Well, he’s wrong. He’s going back to Haiti, I can tell you that,” Homan said with a smile while speaking on Fox News’ “The Will Cain Show” after hearing the now-infamous clip.
The Haitian migrant, who is said to have at least 17 recent criminal convictions, was among the eight significant arrests made by federal immigration authorities in Boston. These included several MS-13 gang members as well as individuals wanted for serious crimes like murder and rape, according to Fox News.
The migrant’s vocal disdain for President Trump and his support for keeping Joe Biden in office became a stark illustration of how violent illegal immigrants are reacting to the shift in policy, fearing the changes under Trump after what they saw as a more lenient four years under Biden.
“ICE officers are finally getting handcuffs taken off of them and they’re going to put them on the bad guys throughout the country,” Homan told Fox News.
In response to the changing landscape, Trump wasted no time in mobilizing federal resources for the mass deportation efforts he had promised during his campaign—a sharp contrast to Biden’s border policies, which saw approximately 8 million people entering the U.S. illegally.
On his first full day back in office, federal agents arrested over 300 illegal immigrants with criminal records in sanctuary cities including Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Miami, and Washington, D.C., in preparation for their deportation.
Trump also moved to end US Customs and Border Protection’s “catch and release” policy, alongside plans to deploy 10,000 troops to reinforce security along the southern border.
