Schneider Children’s Medical Center announced on Thursday that the infant delivered after the tragic shooting attack near Peduel is currently in serious but stable condition.
The baby was born during a life-saving emergency procedure performed after terrorists ambushed Tze’ela Gez as she was heading to the hospital to deliver. She was later pronounced dead at Beilinson Hospital, where doctors were unable to save her life.
Her husband, Hananel, who was with her in the car and suffered only minor wounds, received treatment in Beilinson’s trauma ward and has since been discharged, according to hospital representatives.
The shooting occurred while the couple was en route to the hospital, traveling along the stretch between Peduel and Bruchin. While other vehicles managed to flee without being hit, the Gez family’s car came under fire, leaving both husband and wife injured.
MDA paramedic Erez Fogel, who was among the first to reach the site, recounted: “We left from a nearby community with the ambulance and quickly arrived at the scene. We saw a private vehicle on the side of the road with bullet markings. Inside the vehicle was the driver, a woman in her 30s, unconscious with severe gunshot injuries. In the seat next to the driver was a male around 40 years old, fully conscious, also suffering from gunshot wounds.”
“He was trying to treat the injured woman next to him and attempted to stop her bleeding. We got both of them out of the car and provided medical treatment. We loaded the female into the mobile intensive care unit and evacuated her to the hospital while performing resuscitation efforts, as her condition was critical. The male was evacuated in another intensive care ambulance, fully conscious, in serious condition.”
