Two chareidi soldiers, Yossi Reis and Liron Matalon, serving at Galatz (army radio), decided to grab some fries at a kosher McDonald’s in israel.
After their visit, they posted a photo on their personal Instagram accounts, unaware of the storm it would soon create.
In a matter of hours, the photo went viral across Arab media, sparking outrage and calls to boycott the fast-food chain. Among the reactions were claims that “McDonald’s feeds soldiers and supplies them with weapons.”
“We were in shock,” Reis told Channel 12 News. “We realized something was happening when our friend called to tell us that our photo had spread all over pro-Palestinian media.”
“We checked online and saw it had already been shared thousands of times on major pages. We only went to eat fries. We haven’t received any personal hate messages, but it’s crazy what has happened from one picture of us eating fries,” he added.
