U.S. forces nearly shot down a second Navy jet over the Red Sea, missing it by a mere 100 feet, as reported by The New York Post, citing military sources. The jet was forced to take evasive maneuvers, according to the report.
As reported earlier, the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg shot down one F/A-18 jet over the Red Sea while U.S. forces were conducting strikes on Houthi terrorists in Yemen on Shabbos. The jet had taken off from the USS Harry S. Truman, according to U.S. Central Command. Both pilots safely ejected, with one sustaining minor injuries.
The United States and Israel have been launching coordinated attacks on Houthi strongholds and bases in Yemen in recent weeks. Houthi terrorists have launched over 200 missiles and 170 drones at the Jewish state in support of Hamas since the Gaza-based terror group’s Oct. 7, 2023, invasion of southern Israel. JNS
