During President Trump’s inauguration on Monday, Barack Obama reportedly asked George W. Bush how they could “stop what’s happening,” according to a lip reader.
Jackie Gonzalez, a deaf content creator who often deciphers the private remarks of public figures on social media, released a now-viral video detailing what she believed the two former presidents were chatting about during a casual moment at Trump’s inauguration.
On Monday, footage of Obama and Bush sharing a laugh during Trump’s swearing-in circulated widely online, prompting numerous internet sleuths to speculate about the joke exchanged between the 43rd and 44th presidents.

As Gonzalez tells it, Obama greets Bush and remarks, “Good to see you,” while the crowd erupts in enthusiastic applause for him.
Obama then apparently gives thanks to those gathered before turning to Bush and saying, “How can we stop what’s happening.”
The video subsequently shows Bush, sporting a sly grin, beginning to laugh in response to Obama’s comment.
It is unclear whether Obama was referencing President Trump’s second term, with some online observers suggesting he might have been referring to the crowd’s exuberant applause.
Gonzalez includes a disclaimer on her profiles, explaining that lip reading is “not a reliable form of communication” and “all statements are alleged.”
Still, her followers found the purported conversation entertaining, with the clip amassing 70,000 likes and 2,000 comments.
“If only they would have had a split screen on the former presidents the entire time,” one commenter joked.
