Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was found to “best reflect the core values” of the Democratic Party in a recent CNN survey, edging out former presidential hopefuls Kamala Harris and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
The survey, conducted from March 6-9 with roughly 500 Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents, revealed that Ocasio-Cortez garnered the most support, with 10 percent of participants choosing her as the representative of the party’s “core values.”
Harris closely trailed with 9 percent, while Sanders secured third place with 8 percent. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) followed with 6 percent, and both former President Barack Obama and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) earned 4 percent each.
Other names listed by the respondents received 2 percent or fewer, with former President Joe Biden garnering just 1 percent and Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) finishing last with no votes.
More than 30 percent of those polled declined to name a figure, with one participant commenting, “No one, that’s the problem.”
Additionally, the poll revealed that the Democratic Party’s popularity among Americans has dropped to a “record low” of 29 percent, which is partially attributed to growing dissatisfaction among its own supporters.
