Dr. Mordechai Kedar, a renowned expert on the Middle East and Vice President of NEWSRAEL, recently appeared on Arutz Sheva, where he provided insight into the proposed plan for Gaza by President Trump.
“This plan is not limited to Gaza,” Kedar explained. “It is part of a larger initiative called the Peace Corridor, which stretches from India to the Mediterranean Sea, passing through Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel. It may even extend to Europe and the U.S. The goal is to bypass the Houthis, the Suez Canal, and Iran. The project requires a Mediterranean port. Haifa is too developed and Ashdod is too small, but Gaza offers a 40-kilometer stretch of coastline, with extensive areas of rubble that could be used as a seawall.”
Kedar expressed confidence that the Arab population in Gaza would embrace the opportunity to leave. “If a ship were to dock on Gaza’s shores, two million people would eagerly board to head anywhere else.”
Despite some vagueness in Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statements, Kedar is certain that Netanyahu is a strong supporter of the plan. “This could be the best thing for Israel. It would position Israel as a critical link between the East and the West, and as a bridge to peace with Saudi Arabia and the Emirates.”
However, Kedar pointed out that Israel would not benefit from the plan without significant costs. “We will face challenges and have to make sacrifices, but in the end, we will offer Gaza to the international community on a silver platter. The outcome will benefit everyone: we get Gaza, and they get a better place.”
The exact destination for the people of Gaza remains unclear. “I don’t see countries eager to take in these people,” Kedar remarked. “Qatar, which has supported Hamas in every way, should be held accountable. Qatar must be threatened with exclusion from Swift and other financial services until they agree to take responsibility.”
He continued by outlining the logistics of relocating the Gaza population. “Qatar’s airlines could evacuate all the people from Gaza within a week through El-Arish airport in Egypt. Qatar has luxurious dormitories built for the World Cup that are just waiting to house the Gazans. If these accommodations are insufficient, Qatar can be pressured to find another solution, quickly.”
Kedar also suggested that uninhabited islands in the Pacific or Indian Oceans could provide an alternative solution. “There are plenty of these islands, and building infrastructure on them would be no different from constructing infrastructure anywhere else.”
Turning his attention to the situation on Israel’s northern border, Kedar emphasized the long-term nature of the Shiite struggle. “The Shiites can wait years before regaining power,” he stated. “Israel must never forget that they are biding their time, waiting for the day they can reclaim control.”
