The woman at the center of a horrific crash in Brooklyn that claimed the lives of a mother and her two daughters has been identified as a wig stylist who lives lavishly and previously secured a $2 million payout from the NYPD over claims of abuse as a teenager, according to court filings, the NY Post reports.
Thirty-two-year-old Miriam Yarimi, a mother herself, was reportedly behind the wheel of an Audi with a suspended license when the tragic accident occurred Shabbos afternoon. According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, Yarimi’s car collided with a Toyota Camry on Ocean Parkway in the Gravesend area, lost control, and fatally struck a woman and her two daughters who were walking home from shul.
Yarimi, known online as “Ellie,” earns her living making wigs — a detail hinted at by her Audi’s personalized license plate that reads “WIGM8KER.” In an Instagram post from August 2023, Yarimi showcased the Audi with its vanity plate, posing beside the car. The Brooklyn resident appeared to favor high-end vehicles, recently posting a clip of herself driving a yellow Porsche. “POV a year ago I was completely broke, today I built my first Porsche 718 Boxers S (in custom black and white),” she captioned the video, expressing pride in her financial turnaround.
Yarimi’s social media presence paints a picture of a life filled with glamour, vacations, cruises, and upscale outings.
According to authorities and law enforcement sources, the crash resulted in the deaths of two young girls and left nine others injured after Yarimi’s vehicle flipped over following the collision.
Legal records reveal that in June 2023, Yarimi filed a lawsuit in Kings County Court accusing a uniformed NYPD officer of abusing her when she was just 14. The case ended with a $2 million settlement in her favor.
Yarimi has a history of reckless driving, with over 93 violations linked to the Audi bearing the “WIGM8KER” plate. These include more than 20 tickets for speeding, adding up to over $10,000 in fines, as documented on the tracking site “How’s My Driving,” the NY Post reports.
Among the citations is a speeding ticket from March 16 for racing through a school zone in Brooklyn. Since last August, she’s racked up 20 speed-camera violations, five red-light tickets, and numerous parking fines.
As of now, authorities have not disclosed whether charges will be brought against Yarimi for the devastating crash that took the lives of the 41-year-old mother and her two daughters, ages 8 and 6.
Yarimi, who frequently posts photos of her own young daughter — a child close in age to the girls who were killed — was taken into custody, but formal charges had yet to be filed by early this morning.
