The Western Wall Heritage Foundation announced this afternoon that, following directives from the Home Front Command, tonight’s central Selichos event has been canceled.
Instead, the central Selichos will be held in a limited capacity within the Kosel tunnels, adhering to the Home Front Command’s regulations. “The Western Wall Heritage Foundation urges the public to comply with the guidelines and encourages them to participate via the live broadcast,” the statement said.
The Yerushalayim municipality also confirmed that the Selichos event, which was set to take place at the Sultan’s Pool plaza this evening, has been canceled. Additionally, the Israel Museum will close its doors to visitors starting today.
In Tel Aviv, performances at the Cameri Theater will not proceed, while the Beit Lessin Theater will continue its shows, following the newly issued guidelines.
Earlier today, the Home Front Command announced stricter regulations, which will be enforced starting today across various regions, including Carmel, Wadi Ara, Menashe, Samaria, Sharon, Dan, Yarkon, the lowland, Yerushalayim, and the Judean lowlands.
Under these updated restrictions, which are set to remain in effect until Motzoei Shabbos, beaches will be closed, and educational activities will only be allowed in places where a secure area is accessible for shelter during emergencies.
According to the Home Front Command’s latest update, outdoor gatherings are limited to 30 people, while indoor gatherings are capped at 300 attendees.
As for workplaces, operations can continue as usual, provided they are conducted in a building or location with an accessible protected area during emergencies.
These restrictions on gatherings, enforced by the Home Front Command due to the current security situation, are expected to affect Rosh Hashanah tefillos within large kehillos and yeshivas.
