The FBI has confirmed that the driver behind the New Orleans truck attack acted alone in what they are calling an “act of terrorism.” The individual drove his pickup truck into a crowd of people celebrating the New Year early Wednesday, resulting in 15 deaths.
Additionally, the FBI has stated that there is no evidence linking the New Orleans attack to the explosion of a Cybertruck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas that occurred just hours later.
Before carrying out the attack, the driver posted videos on social media in which he expressed admiration for the Islamic State group and voiced his intent to kill, according to President Joe Biden.
The FBI has identified the driver as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar.
While officials have not disclosed the names of those who lost their lives in the attack, their families and loved ones have begun to share their personal stories. Around 30 individuals were reported to have been injured in the incident.
