LaGuardia Airport has recently earned the prestigious title of the top airport in the United States, as recognized by Forbes Travel Guide. This is just one of the many accolades the airport has garnered following its $8 billion overhaul.
Rick Cotton, the executive director of the Port Authority, accepted the award during a ceremony held at Delta’s newly completed Terminal C on Tuesday.
“When back 10 years ago we committed to building a world-class airport, I doubt we had many true believers, but I think we have won the skeptics over,” Cotton remarked.
The honor was granted to LaGuardia after Forbes Travel Guide surveyed 5,000 leading travelers and industry professionals for their opinions.
The announcement of the award came in October, and LaGuardia shared its excitement on social media, proudly declaring that it had gone “From worst to best!”
In addition to this recognition, LaGuardia has been named the recipient of several other prestigious awards, including the 2021 Prix Versailles for the best new airport, the Skytrax award for the world’s best new airport terminal, a 5-star rating for Terminal B in 2023, and the Airport Service Quality award for the best airport in North America.
