According to a report from Saudi Al-Hadath, Israel may offer Hamas leaders immunity if they agree to leave Gaza permanently and relinquish control of the territory to a neutral authority. This report comes as discussions continue in Doha regarding a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict, which has lasted 15 months, and efforts to secure the release of the 96 hostages still held by Gaza-based terror groups since the October 7, 2023, attack.
The report, based on information from Israeli sources in Qatar, indicates that Israel would not target Hamas leaders if they consent to vacate Gaza and transfer its leadership. In their place, Gaza would be managed by “an independent Palestinian body,” with coordination from the international community.
The report further suggests that an international peacekeeping force, akin to the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, could be established to oversee the situation. The United States would be tasked with monitoring the agreement’s execution, according to the Israeli source cited in the report.
