During his recent visit to Washington, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that Israel’s military is prepared to devastate Lebanon in the event of a war with Hezbollah, though he emphasized a preference for resolving border issues diplomatically.
“We do not want war, but we are preparing for every scenario,” Gallant stated to reporters, wrapping up his four-day visit. “Hezbollah understands very well that we can inflict massive damage in Lebanon if a war is launched.”
Gallant also mentioned discussions with senior US officials regarding his “day after” plans for governing post-war Gaza. These plans involve local Palestinians, regional partners, and the US, but he noted that it would be “a long and complex process.”
