International airline operations in Israel are steadily picking up, with Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air planning to broaden its services to Tel Aviv starting January 15, as reported by the Globes financial newspaper on Tuesday. After a two-month hiatus, Wizz Air resumed flights to Ben Gurion Airport earlier this month, initially reviving its Tel Aviv-Larnaca route. The airline is now set to introduce flights to 10 more destinations.
Travelers can book affordable round-trip tickets on Wizz Air’s website for flights scheduled between January and March. Some of the available routes include Abu Dhabi (from $195), Rome and Milan (from $129), London (from $182), Warsaw and Krakow (from $182), and Budapest (from $140). The airline is also bringing back flights from Tel Aviv to Athens, Vienna, and Bucharest.
Similarly, Greek airline Aegean Airlines has resumed its flights, offering attractive return fares of less than $100 for routes between Tel Aviv and Athens, as well as Tel Aviv and Larnaca.
However, despite these positive developments, Globes highlighted that the broader return of international airlines to Israel is still proceeding with caution. Even after the ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon went into effect over a month ago, many international airlines are still hesitant to restart operations. Analysts point to the continued missile threats from Houthi rebels in Yemen as a significant factor keeping US and several European carriers from resuming flights to Israel.
