On the first full day of President Trump’s administration, ICE took into custody 308 undocumented migrants, some of whom had been implicated in serious crimes such as murder and child sexual assault, according to Tom Homan, the nation’s border enforcement chief.
Homan disclosed that immigration agents began rounding up individuals who were seen as posing a danger to public safety, highlighting that around 700,000 such individuals are currently at large across the country.
“ICE is doing their job,” Homan stated.
The border czar has committed to resuming immigration enforcement operations under Trump, even in cities that have declared themselves sanctuaries for undocumented individuals.
Earlier, in a conversation with The Post, Homan stressed that even if sanctuary city officials were uncooperative, the federal authorities would still carry out their mission: “wait til they get out of jail, then we’ll go out into the neighborhoods and get them.”
