The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Security Agency (ISA) have announced that, in recent days, as part of an ongoing military operation inside the Gaza Strip, Israeli troops uncovered findings associated with the body of Manny Menachem Goddard, who was abducted and killed by Islamic Jihad terrorists during the October 7, 2023 massacre.
Although these items were recovered, officials confirmed that Goddard’s body remains in Gaza.
The evidence was found at a site associated with Islamic Jihad terrorists located in the Rafah area.
“After an identification process conducted by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Israel Police, IDF representatives informed the Goddard family and will continue to support them,” a statement read. “The IDF continues to make efforts to locate and fully recover his body.”
At a demonstration held in Tel Aviv tonight, Bar Goddard, daughter of the slain hostage, addressed those gathered and reflected on the recent developments.
“I want to share with you that there was an attempt to retrieve my father’s body – but it failed,” she said. “The officer who is accompanying us told us that IDF forces succeeded in retrieving from an Islamic Jihad post a refrigerator which had the remains of my father, but he said that the operation did not succeed.”
Directing her words to Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, she continued, “We, the Goddard family, demand of you: Don’t send any soldier to endanger his life to retrieve our father’s body. We will not agree that any additional family join the circle of the bereaved in an attempt to bring him back.”
“We demand that you bring him and all the other hostages back – in a single deal. That is what needs to happen – now.”
