In recent days, the IDF and ISA launched strikes targeting terrorists and terror infrastructure across the Gaza Strip, aiming to weaken Hamas’ military strength and neutralize threats to the State of Israel and its military personnel.
Among those eliminated in these operations was Ahmad Salman ‘Awj Shimali, the deputy commander of Hamas’ Gaza Brigade. Shimali played a key role in overseeing operations, developing offensive strategies, and enhancing the brigade’s readiness for the devastating attacks Hamas carried out on October 7.
The IDF highlighted that Shimali was responsible for deploying forces within the Gaza Brigade during the course of the conflict.
In addition, Jamil Omar Jamil Wadiya, the commander of Hamas’ Shejaiya Battalion, was also killed. Wadiya took over the battalion’s leadership after the death of terrorist Wessam Farhat in December 2023, and led the unit for much of the war.
The IDF reported that Wadiya was in charge of organizing and deploying his battalion’s forces against IDF units and worked on rebuilding and reorganizing the group. Wadiya’s involvement also extended to the horrific anti-tank missile attack on a school bus in April 2011, which resulted in the murder of 16-year-old Daniel Viflic.
