This morning, the IDF initiated its largest military exercise since the conflict began, focusing on defending against potential assaults on the northern front.
The training is being conducted by the 146th Reserve Division and the 91st “Galilee” Regional Division, with support from the Israeli Air Force, Navy, and various civilian agencies, including the Israel Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Magen David Adom, and local defense forces.
As per the IDF, the exercise is taking place along the border with Lebanon and involves simulating various scenarios, such as surprise attacks originating from Lebanon.
The purpose of the drill is to assess the IDF’s readiness to protect border communities and military positions from enemy advances, as well as testing the capability to launch a counteroffensive both within Israel and across the border.
This exercise comes after most Israeli troops were pulled back from Lebanon during the current ceasefire, although the IDF still maintains a presence at five strategic points in southern Lebanon, continuing to target Hezbollah positions deemed a security threat to Israel.
