Iran accused the United States on Tuesday of “psychological warfare” with the United States announcing on Sunday that it is sending an aircraft strike group to the Middle East amid “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” from Tehran.
Semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Tuesday that a spokesperson for Iran’s supreme national security council, Keyvan Khosravi, said “Bolton’s statement is a clumsy use of a burnt-out happening for psychological warfare.”
On Sunday, Bolton said that “in response to a number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings, the United States is deploying the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the U.S. Central Command region to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif ridiculed Bolton on Tuesday.
The #B_Team is at it again: From announcements of naval movements (that actually occurred last month) to dire warnings about so-called “Iranian threats”.
If US and clients don’t feel safe, it’s because they’re despised by the people of the region—blaming Iran won’t reverse that,” tweeted Zarif.
