Israel Defense Forces soldiers eliminated dozens of Hamas terrorists, while arresting several others, during a counter-terrorism raid in the Beit Hanun area of northeastern Gaza, the military said on Sunday.
Troops of the IDF’s Givati Brigade, working in tandem with the Israeli Air Force and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), raided the position in Beit Hanun following intelligence that terrorists were gathering there.
In addition, a combat team of the IDF’s Kfir Brigade continued to operate in the nearby city of Beit Lahiya, eliminating terrorists from the air and on the ground and destroying weapons, the IDF said.
On Saturday evening, the IDF eliminated a member of Hamas’s “military” wing in a precision airstrike in the area of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, Imad Jaro operated in a Hamas compound in the Gaza humanitarian zone used to plan and carry out attacks against troops and the State of Israel.
Jaro actively participated in Hamas’s government and political operations in Deir al-Balah and the central camps, serving as the city’s mayor and heading the Government Emergency Committee in central Gaza. He was in continuous contact with officials in the terrorist group’s “military” wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades.
The IDF emphasized that measures were taken before the strike to minimize harm to civilians, accusing Hamas of continuing “to abuse civilian and humanitarian infrastructure for its terrorist activities, in violation of international law.”
Overnight Friday, the Israeli Air Force struck Hamas terrorists planning imminent attacks against IDF troops operating in Gaza and against Israeli territory.
The terrorists were operating inside a command-and-control center embedded within a compound that previously served as the Yaffa (Jaffa) school in Gaza City.
Hamas fires rockets from near an international aid warehouse
Hamas launched several rockets at southern Israel over the weekend, including a projectile fired from central Gaza on Saturday evening that hit in an open area, triggering air-raid sirens in communities near the Gaza Strip. No injuries were reported.
On Friday evening, terrorists in Gaza fired two rockets at communities in southern Israel, launching them just 50 meters (160 feet) from an active international aid warehouse.

In response, the IAF struck several weapons storage facilities and terrorists operating in the vicinity of the launch site overnight Friday.
The IDF stressed that in cooperation with the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) unit, it will “continue to act in accordance with international law to enable and facilitate the transfer of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.” JNS
