Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa), a vocal advocate for Israel within the Democratic Party, reiterated his firm support for Israel’s ongoing military actions against Hamas earlier on Monday.
In response to a Wall Street Journal article about the recent targeting of Hamas leaders, Fetterman wrote on X, “Hamas’ leadership has the choice to free the hostages or face swift elimination.” He also emphasized his unwavering backing for Israel, adding, “The Palestinian tragedy was designed and maintained exclusively by Hamas. This war is Hamas’ choice and my full support follows Israel.”
Last week, Fetterman made a visit to Israel where he met with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu at the Prime Minister’s Office in Yerushalayim. During their meeting, Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, expressed gratitude to the Senator and his wife for their steadfast support of Israel since the war began.
Prime Minister Netanyahu presented Senator Fetterman with a silver pager, inspired by ‘Operation Pager’, a pivotal initiative that reshaped the course of the war in Lebanon. The Prime Minister was deeply touched when Senator Fetterman presented him with a rare piece of history: the original newspaper article from 1986, which included a photograph of Netanyahu at the dedication of the memorial for his late brother, Yoni, in Philadelphia.
