MKs have begun voting on the bill to dissolve the Knesset and set new elections for September 17 after Prime Minister Netanyahu fails to secure a majority of 61 Knesset members.
Avigdor Leiberman, who refused to join Bibi’s coalition declared: “To my sorrow, the state of Israel is going to elections.”
Leiberman defended his position to reporters, saying his refusal to compromise is because of the “complete surrender of the Likud to the charedim.”
“We are natural partners in a right wing government; we won’t be partners in a halachic government,” he says.
