Lakewood, NJ – Moadim L’Simcha, an organization known for distributing Yom Tov essentials in Lakewood, issued an apology after egg cartons included in their Pesach distribution featured a message expressing solidarity with Israeli soldiers and hostages.
Moadim L’Simcha is a project of Tomchei Shabbos of Lakewood.
A sticker on the boxes of eggs from Deb El Food Products, LLC, stated, “Am Yisroel Chai! Donated in honor of the soldiers of Israel and the safe return of all the hostages.”
In a statement released to the public, Moadim L’Simcha apologized, referring to the message as “very offensive” and “very offensive anti-Torah.”
“With a heavy heart,” the apology says, “….we acknowledge that a very offensive anti-Torah message was displayed on the egg cartons.”
The organization accepted full “responsibility” for the incident, saying, “We understand that we bear the responsibility,” and assured the public that it is implementing “strong measures” to prevent such an occurrence in the future.
