The Likud party has strongly rejected Naftali Bennett’s claim that Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu should step down following reports about Qatari payments to one of his senior aides, calling his accusations of treason baseless. In a scathing statement, Likud slammed the former prime minister, branding him a “crook who stole the votes of the right and formed a government with [Ra’am party chief] Mansour Abbas and the Muslim Brotherhood.”
The party spokesperson went on to highlight Bennett’s actions during his time in office, pointing out that he had been responsible for bringing in Gazan workers for the first time since Operation Protective Edge, a policy that the Netanyahu administration has continued since it assumed power.
Furthermore, Likud accused Bennett of increasing financial support for Gaza during his tenure and dismissed his accusations as “nonsense over a fake affair that never happened.” The party refrained from addressing the specifics of the allegations Bennett had made, providing no additional clarification on the claims.
“On every other issue, he is silent like a fish, and for good reason,” the statement added.
Earlier, in a detailed post on X, Bennett argued that Netanyahu had lost the moral authority to lead, particularly in terms of sending troops into battle, following the revelation that one of his top aides received a salary funded by Qatar.
