On Tuesday, the military court in Beit Lid extended the sentence of 5 reserve soldiers who are accused of severely abusing a Hamas terrorist at the Sde Teiman base.
At the hearing, the prosecution clarified that: “the terrorist was not a company commander or a member of the Nukhba unit, but a Hamas police officer.”, as had been widely reported.
The prosecution also said that the terrorist did not arrive at the Sde Teiman base injured, like the defense attorneys have said.
The court accepted the prosecutions request to extend the soldiers detention until Sunday so more investigations can be carried out. The court stated: “from the evidence, there is a reasonable suspicion that the acts were committed.”
Last week protesters broke into the Sde Teiman base after masked policeman arrested eight reservists on the suspicion of abusing the terrorist. Three of the detained reservists have since been released. Reports have said that medical reports from the hospital show that the terrorist suffered severe trauma.
