On CNN’s News Central, Brianna Keilar pressed Stephen Miller about the Trump administration’s investigation into “widespread fraud in IRS data,” particularly illegal immigrants receiving child tax credits.
“Are you looking for that information in the IRS data?” she asked.
“Any time a crime is committed, there should be an investigation,” Miller responded. “Are you saying if someone is stealing taxpayer dollars—”
Keilar interrupted: “Stephen, are you looking for that information in the IRS data?”
“The federal government will find every illegal alien stealing taxpayer dollars,” Miller said. “That’s what Americans expect.”
Keilar pushed for specifics on IRS data regarding fraud by illegal immigrants.
“If IRS investigators find illegal aliens stealing taxpayer money, they’ll be referred to ICE and Homeland Security Investigations,” Miller stated. “Of course they will be.”
“Surely, you don’t believe illegal aliens should steal taxpayer dollars?” he challenged. “Millions of illegal aliens have stolen Social Security, used fake identities, and committed felonies. Why should they be immune from prosecution?”
Miller continued, emphasizing that such crimes would be investigated and prosecuted, resulting in deportations. “And you know what happens then? Americans get jobs, benefits, and housing.”
Keilar attempted to frame the administration’s actions negatively, questioning whether this was their official stance.
“If a crime is found, it will be referred,” Miller said. “If it justifies prosecution, they’ll be prosecuted. If it warrants deportation, they’ll be deported. This follows IRS protocols on fraud.”
He added, “No one is above the law. Illegal aliens cannot steal billions in taxpayer dollars with impunity. And I’d assume CNN, which champions democracy and the rule of law, agrees.”
Miller closed by noting Keilar’s apparent bias: “You don’t sound indifferent or unbiased, but thank you.”
