In the early hours of Sunday, sirens alerting residents of rocket and missile threats were activated in the Talmei Elazar area, located near Chadera. The Israel Air Force successfully intercepted a surface-to-surface missile. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed the interception, stating, “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in Talmei Elazar, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted prior to crossing into Israeli territory.” They further explained, “Sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol.”
Earlier on Friday, at approximately 4:30 a.m., sirens were triggered in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and several towns across central Israel, following a missile launch from Yemen by the Houthis. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed that the missile was intercepted, but fragments from the interception fell over Modi’in, located in central Israel.
Then, on Monday evening, sirens went off in numerous cities throughout central Israel after another missile was fired from Yemen. The IDF announced that this missile was also intercepted by the Israel Air Force before it could enter Israeli airspace. Fragments from the missile interception landed in the cities of Beit Shemesh and Rehovot. About 25 minutes after the sirens sounded, air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport, which had been suspended due to the alerts, was resumed.
During the siren alert, an 18-year-old woman was struck by a car as she was making her way to a shelter in Yavne.
