A missile fired from Yemen triggered Red Alert sirens this evening in central Israel, the Gush Etzion region, and other locations across the country. The missile was successfully intercepted while it was still over Jordanian airspace.
The IDF confirmed the interception, saying, “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted prior to crossing into Israeli territory.”
The sirens were activated as part of standard procedure, and residents in the Gush Etzion area reported hearing blasts in the distance.
Before this, sirens had already been sounded in Sderot and surrounding areas near Gaza after rockets were fired by terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF reported that two rockets were shot down by the IAF. The military faction of Islamic Jihad later took responsibility for the rocket attack.
