As questions swirl about President Donald Trump’s position on the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, Likud Knesset Member Boaz Bismuth spoke to Arutz Sheva, firmly defending Israel’s right to defend itself and praising Trump’s unwavering loyalty to the Jewish state.
In the interview, Bismuth dismissed any speculation suggesting Trump is growing impatient with Israel or seeking to back away. “President Trump was, is, and always will be an amazing friend of Israel,” Bismuth stated. “Maybe the closest and most friendly president we’ve ever had.”
Bismuth acknowledged the severity of Israel’s current situation, pointing out that the country is surrounded by threats and internal complexities. “Everywhere you point your finger, you will see a challenge,” he said, making clear that the highest national priority remains securing the release of the hostages still in Hamas custody.
In response to concerns raised by hostage families about whether Trump’s help would be limited to rescuing American citizens, Bismuth was adamant. “We are committed to bringing back all of them. What passport they have doesn’t matter.”
When asked about Trump allegedly calling the IDF’s campaign in Gaza a “wasted effort,” Bismuth argued that the military’s approach is shaped by the presence of hostages. “You don’t fight the same way when you care about getting people back alive,” he explained.
Bismuth made clear that the goal of the operation is non-negotiable. “Hamas must not remain in power in Gaza. No Israeli would accept a terrorist entity reigning next to our border after October 7th.”
On the question of whether Israel can continue its fight without full support from the United States, Bismuth said coordination is essential, but not everything. He pointed to past actions: “In 1981, Israel struck Iraq’s nuclear plant. Ronald Reagan, a friend of Israel, didn’t like it, but we did it anyway. We’re not a banana republic.”
“Trump is a friend of Israel. But Israel is also a friend to itself,” Bismuth concluded. “Prime Minister Netanyahu knows what is is best for Israel and will do what’s necessary to win this war.”
