A Delta Air Lines aircraft flipped over following a crash-landing at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, was traveling from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport when it “crashed while landing” at Toronto Pearson International Airport around 2:45 p.m. on Monday. All 80 passengers aboard were safely evacuated.
The investigation will be overseen by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, which will provide any future updates, as stated by the federal agency.
“Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis,” the airport shared in a post on X on Monday. “Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for.”
According to Peel Regional paramedics, eight passengers sustained injuries, though the exact cause of the crash remains unknown.
Witnesses on social media posted chilling photos and videos from the scene, showing the plane overturned on a snowy patch of ground.
Airport personnel informed CTV News that all flight arrivals and departures have been halted.
Peel Regional Police are reportedly conducting an investigation into the crash.
This incident follows closely behind two fatal crashes on U.S. soil. On January 29, an American Airlines jet collided with a Black Hawk military helicopter near Reagan National Airport, resulting in the deaths of all 67 people aboard.
Just days after, a medical jet carrying six passengers crashed in northeast Pennsylvania, killing everyone on board.
