This evening, the Prime Minister’s Office shared a striking video in which Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu speaks directly to the public, saying: “Citizens of Israel, I have a dramatic revelation of facts that will shock you.”
At the outset of the video, Netanyahu made it clear that a firm decision had already been made regarding the future of ISA Chief Ronen Bar: “Ronen Bar will not remain the head of the ISA, there will be no brotherly war, and Israel will remain a democratic state.”
Netanyahu further emphasized that the government’s actions are in full compliance with the law: “My loss of confidence in the head of the ISA began on October 7 when he failed to alert me or anyone else. My concerns grew until I removed Ronen from the negotiation team, and all of this took place well before the investigation into Qatar was initiated.”
In the video, Netanyahu elaborated on how his decision to remove Bar was only made after receiving reports on the October 7th attack. “I decided the same thing about Herzi Halevi,” Netanyahu remarked. “Bar requested multiple extensions on the deadline I set for the investigations, which I allowed.”
“On the very day I was due to receive the investigation, in an uncanny coincidence, the Attorney General announced that she was opening an investigation into claims that I had taken bribes from Qatar.” The Attorney General has since provided legal opinions stating that since the ISA is involved in the investigation into the alleged bribes, Netanyahu is legally prevented from firing the ISA head, as it would be seen as interfering with the probe.
“The investigation is clearly designed to stop me from removing Ronen Bar,” Netanyahu concluded. “You tell me – who is really acting based on external pressures?”
