On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu addressed his Cabinet upon returning from the United States and discussed what he described as a highly successful trip.
“Up until now, we have achieved remarkable successes in the war. I’ve just returned from a historic visit to Washington DC, where I met with President Donald Trump, senior members of his administration, and key leaders from the Senate and Congress,” Prime Minister Netanyahu began.
He continued, “This trip, and the discussions we held with the President of the United States, resulted in even greater achievements that will secure Israel’s future for generations. I’m not overstating this, I’m not exaggerating. The opportunities we now have are ones we hadn’t even dreamed of just a few months ago, but now they are within our reach.”
He added, “We had a very warm, thorough, and decisive meeting. We covered all the key issues currently on the agenda. We’ve made significant progress, but many challenges remain. President Trump commended our achievements, especially the defeat of the Iranian axis. He was very impressed by the actions we’ve taken. I told him that all of this is due, first and foremost, to the unwavering determination of our heroic soldiers and the sacrifices made by the fallen. Additionally, the resilience of our people and the clear, consistent policies we’ve led have been the driving force behind this success.”
Netanyahu went on: “We agreed that we must achieve all the objectives we’ve set for this war: eliminating Hamas, bringing all our hostages back, ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel, allowing all the residents of the north and south to return to their homes, and, of course, preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”
“President Trump also offered an alternative vision for the ‘day after.’ Throughout this year, we’ve been told that the Palestinian Authority would need to be in charge in the Gaza Strip. He presented a completely different vision, one that’s far more favorable for Israel. This is a groundbreaking, innovative vision, and we’re actively discussing it. He is fully committed to implementing it, and it opens up many new possibilities for us,” he said.
“This trip, which I will be able to elaborate on further in the appropriate forums, marks a historic turning point for the State of Israel. At the same time, we are, of course, enforcing the cease-fire agreements. This requires action on our part, sometimes with force. We are carrying this out in the south and the north. I’ve instructed that no one be allowed near the perimeter, and that no one breach it. This is part of the agreement, and we will enforce it firmly. We expect Hamas to honor all its commitments, and this is one of them,” Prime Minister Netanyahu concluded.
