Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu is said to have given President Trump a “golden pager” as a symbolic gesture, referencing the devices used in Israel’s precision operations that have successfully targeted terrorists threatening the country.
During their historic meeting on Tuesday, Netanyahu presented Trump with two pagers – one standard and one golden – as reported by the Times of Israel.
This exchange comes several months after a dramatic incident in September, when pagers used by Hezbollah operatives across Lebanon began exploding unexpectedly, leading to the deaths of more than 30 individuals and injuring over 3,400 others, according to the Times of Israel.
“That was a great operation,” Trump remarked while receiving the gift, as per the report.
In return, Trump handed Netanyahu a framed photo from their meeting, inscribed with the message: “To Bibi, a great leader.”
The majority of the victims from the September attack were either members of or affiliated with Hezbollah.
The pagers, along with hundreds of walkie-talkies that detonated the next day, suddenly overheated and exploded after emitting a beep, signaling an incoming message.
In the wake of these lethal explosions, Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, immediately launched retaliatory strikes on Israel following Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack.
