Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Friday, sirens blared across Haifa and its surrounding areas, alerting residents to a potential rocket and missile attack.
According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, approximately five projectiles crossed into Israeli airspace from Lebanon. While some of these projectiles were intercepted midair, others reportedly landed without causing significant harm.
Magen David Adom reported that emergency teams were dispatched to areas where the rocket strikes were believed to have occurred. “At this stage, there are no reports of injuries,” the organization stated.
On Thursday night, at 11:00 p.m., warning sirens disrupted the calm in the southern Negev, signaling the possible intrusion of a hostile aircraft.
The incident was resolved within 40 minutes, as confirmed by the IDF, which stated that no injuries or damage had been reported.
Earlier on Thursday morning, 27-year-old Braen Direktor from Maalot-Tarshiha tragically lost his life during a rocket attack on a park in Nahariya.
Direktor’s death marks the fourth fatality in Nahariya in under a month. During the barrage of rockets fired into the city and its surrounding areas, a total of ten rockets were launched, with one striking the park. Direktor was fatally injured by shrapnel from the explosion.
In a statement, the IDF confirmed that “approximately 10 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon. Most of the projectiles were intercepted, and fallen projectiles were identified.”
The day’s turmoil began in the early morning hours, with sirens ringing out across the Western Galilee, including in communities such as Rosh Hanikra and Nahariya.
These alarms were triggered after a suspicious aerial object was detected entering Israeli airspace from Lebanon.
The Home Front Command declared the situation resolved about 20 minutes later, but the IDF followed with an official update: “Following the sirens that sounded between 6:25 a.m. and 6:36 a.m. regarding a hostile aircraft infiltration in the Western Galilee area.”
Fragments from an interception were discovered in the Western Galilee, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. “At this moment, no injuries were reported,” the IDF statement concluded.
