Today, Israeli President Isaac Herzog appeared on Fox News, where he shared a harrowing and heartbreaking account of Eli Sharabi’s condition after his release from Hamas captivity. He described how Sharabi had endured nearly 500 days in Gaza, suffering from hunger and abuse.
“Three of our sons returned after almost a year and three months in captivity, spending all that time in tunnels under horrific conditions. I’ll give you an example. This is Eli Sharabi. Eli Sharabi’s wife and daughters were murdered and butchered on October 7. Eli Sharabi’s brother was killed and butchered by Hamas in Gaza after being taken hostage from the same Kibbutz Be’eri,” President Herzog explained.
“You can see Eli before and Eli after, and this is exactly what happened. They came back emaciated, and the stories we’re hearing from them are full of horrors, which only underscore why we must complete the deal,” he stressed.
President Herzog expressed gratitude toward President Trump for his instrumental role in facilitating the deal, saying, “Every person we bring back represents an entire universe, as we believe in the Jewish faith. Right now, there are still 76 hostages out there. We must bring them home soon.”
“Israel, as the only democracy in the Middle East, fights for the entire free world. Thanks to the courageous efforts of IDF soldiers, there has been a shift in the Middle East. That is why we saw real outcomes from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House,” President Herzog concluded.
