During a military operation that began a week ago, 60 terrorists affiliated with Hamas and Islamic Jihad were apprehended at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza and subsequently transported to Israel for medical care, Channel 12 News reported on Sunday.
The Israeli Defense Forces initiated the operation after receiving intelligence that the hospital was being used as a base for terrorist activity, leading to the arrest of over 240 individuals. Some of those arrested were involved in the horrific massacre of October 7, 2023, and all of them were brought to Israel for further interrogation.
According to the report, a quarter of the detained terrorists required medical attention that could not be provided at the Sde Teiman Base, where a field hospital had initially been set up. This field hospital was closed, necessitating the transfer of the detainees to hospitals in Israel, such as Ichilov in Tel Aviv, Barzilai in Ashkelon, Assuta in Ashdod, Wolfson in Holon, and Shaare Zedek in Yerushalayim. A healthcare source speaking to Channel 12 News said, “As we warned when it was decided to close the field hospital at the Sde Teiman Base, these terrorists are now being brought to hospitals in Israel — and this could have been avoided. A dedicated medical facility for terrorists should be established.”
In related news, Channel 12 News had previously reported that 25 Hamas members, captured alive in Gaza following the October 7 attacks, were also transferred to Israeli hospitals for treatment. Some of these terrorists were even placed in beds next to IDF soldiers who had been injured during the conflict. Just days after the attack, it was reported that several terrorists involved in the massacre were receiving care in Israeli hospitals alongside survivors from Israel and other countries.
