Matan Angrest, who has been taken hostage, is enduring severe conditions in a dim, airless cellar, suffering from untreated serious burns, bruises, and eye injuries sustained during his abduction from a burning IDF tank in Nachal Oz on October 7, 2023, according to Channel 12 reports.
While the report is not attributed to a specific source, it follows a series of recent releases of captives, including five female soldiers, who have disclosed that Hamas is torturing soldiers for intelligence purposes. This comes one day after Angrest’s family shared the first image of him from captivity, which they received in a video from Hamas.
The report reveals that Angrest is left to treat his own injuries, while his captors intentionally deprive him of food.
Earlier today, Angrest’s father spoke with Kan public broadcaster, stating that the family may release the full video of Matan if they believe it’s necessary, emphasizing that the content would “shock the country.”
“Matan’s face is completely broken, the boy is completely broken and this is just the face,” he remarked. “We know he treated his own body.”
