Israel confirmed that some advancements have been made in the ongoing discussions between the United States and the Hamas terrorist group regarding the continuation of the hostage agreement, as reported by Kan Reshet Bet.
The progress was reportedly achieved after a meeting between President Trump’s hostage envoy, Adam Boehler, and Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas leader involved in orchestrating the October 7 massacre.
An Israeli team is set to travel to Doha, Qatar tomorrow to carry on with the negotiations for the release of hostages. The level of authority the team will have in making decisions will be established today during a cabinet session.
On Tuesday, US envoy Steve Witkoff will arrive in the region to help expedite the discussions and work towards extending the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
Late last night, Saudi newspaper Al Hadath reported that Hamas had consented to the US proposal to prolong the initial phase of the ceasefire agreement in return for the release of several living hostages.
The report further indicated that the progress in the talks between Hamas and the US prompted Israel to announce that its delegation would depart for Qatar on Monday.
