Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the terrorist responsible for the deadly truck ramming attack in New Orleans, filmed a series of videos in which he admitted to planning to kill his family and revealed that he had joined ISIS, according to CNN.
Law enforcement has obtained these videos, which are believed to have been recorded as Jabbar traveled from Texas to Louisiana before carrying out the attack on Wednesday. However, the exact timing of the recordings remains unclear.
In the videos, Jabbar allegedly talked about his divorce and mentioned that he had planned to invite his entire family to a “celebration” as a cover for his plan to murder them. Jabbar, who has two daughters, aged 15 and 20, with his ex-wife Nakedra Charrlle, reportedly discussed this premeditated plan.
At 42 years old, Jabbar had gone through two divorces, which contributed to his financial struggles.
During his second divorce, the Army veteran revealed that he had accumulated over $16,000 in credit card debt due to lawyer fees, following a $28,000 loss in his real estate business the previous year.
The videos also show Jabbar confessing to joining ISIS and recounting various dreams and thoughts about why he felt compelled to become a part of the terrorist group.
