On Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar welcomed US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee for their first official working session at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Yerushalayim. The meeting came shortly after Huckabee formally submitted his diplomatic credentials to President Herzog.
The two began with a private conversation before being joined by their respective delegations for a broader discussion.
Minister Sa’ar extended warm congratulations to Ambassador Huckabee on taking up his new position and expressed appreciation for his steadfast support of Israel throughout the years. He remarked that Huckabee’s deep-rooted friendship and dedication to the US-Israel alliance made him an ideal choice for the role. “Israel could not have hoped for a better ambassador,” Sa’ar said.
A primary topic of the talks was the strategic threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which both sides agreed remains a central concern.
In addition, the two explored opportunities to further deepen and strengthen the partnership between Israel and the United States.
