A second deportation flight, which took off from El Paso, Texas, Thursday, carried 13 Venezuelan gang members linked to various violent offenses, heading to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The passenger list includes a member of the Tren de Aragua gang, who is charged with homicide, as well as another individual who confessed to being wanted in Venezuela for escaping from prison, armed robbery, and attempting to commit murder, according to a Homeland Security official.
In addition to these serious charges, the migrants are accused of other crimes such as drug possession, robbery, assault, fraud, and illegally entering the United States, the official noted.
This flight follows one that left Fort Bliss, Texas, just two days earlier, carrying around a dozen “highly dangerous” individuals, including 10 members of the Tren de Aragua gang.
The Guantanamo Bay detention facility, historically known for holding infamous criminals like the 9/11 conspirators, has recently been repurposed to accommodate criminal migrants as part of President Trump’s efforts to combat illegal immigration.
The island’s migrant detention facility is currently being expanded with plans to eventually accommodate tens of thousands of detainees.
